Ballasts may contain PCBs and should not be placed in the trash. Ballasts are accepted as Household Hazardous Wastes.
Ballasts are metal, rectangular, generally dark in color, heavy for their size, and 12-18 inches in length or longer. Ballasts are attached to light fixtures with screws and wires. Ballasts must be removed from light fixtures before arriving at the drop-off facility. Staff will not separate the ballasts from the light fixtures for you.
